Self-Turning Extractor
This is a new concept for extraction in the UK, extremely efficient and simple to use.
Our Standard Stock Item is an 12 Super Frame Extractor, (or 6 Brood Frames) and is 89 cm in diameter and 110cm in height.
The Extractors are available from 4-16 frames and the diameter is based on the number and type of frames used. The entire machine is made from fully acid-proof stainless food grade stainless steel.
With the Self-Turning machines it is not necessary to manually reverse or shift the frames from one side to the other as the baskets themselves reverse with the change of direction of rotation. These separators are equipped with automatic electric regulators as standard.
There are four pre-programmed separation times available (approximately 2, 4, 5 and 6 minutes). These times are factory set and cannot subsequently be modified by the user. However, setting separation times other than those pre-set in the basic program may be set in the factory at the customer’s request.
The entire separation is constituted by three cycles. The first phase is the so-called lighting or pre-separation. In this phase separation is made on one side of each frame up to 30-40%. This is intended to protect the frames by avoiding pressure from the interior that might cause damage to the frames. Then the rotation of the inner basket is automatically stopped, and the second cycle is started after a holding time of 2-3 seconds.
Then the frames are simultaneously reversed to their other side with the change of direction of rotation, from where separation is the third cycle. The machine changes the direction of the rotation again in the third cycle, and the honey remaining in the first side of the frames is separated, then the separation is stopped again.
The rotation speed may be changed during operation.
It is important to note that the machine rotates at 70% of the set speed in the first cycle to protect the combs and lighting the frames. In cycles 2 and 3, the machine operates with the set rotation speed. The Self-Turning machine will extract between 10-15% by volume more honey than a conventional radial machine.
